Filey SC has had to change the dates for the 2010 Regatta.
Historically, the event has taken place where possible on the 2nd full weekend falling in July (after the Lord Birkett event at Ullswater). However, due to the increasing number of entries, combined with the event being a coastal event – the event has to be held over a weekend where the tide heights allow competitors to leave their boats on the beach on Friday and Saturday nights. When planning the event for 2010 – the event committee felt it had no option but to hold the event on 5th & 6th June to take advantage of appropriate tide heights. The only other possible dates were well into August but this would likely be unpopular with competitors and also club members who will likely be on summer holidays. The club relies solely on its members to run the event so availability is important.
